Paul Caviness is a six year member of the Portsmouth Horseshoe Club and very active in the all types of sports events. Paul is the club oldest member at 86. He really enjoys the game of pitching horseshoes and other sports activity. Paul also served in the U. S. Coast Guard for 28 year and retired as Master Chief.

Paul has participated in many Virginia Senior Games this year. This year Senior Games in Richmond, VA, Paul won six Gold Metal in his age bracket.  Paul participates in the following events:  Singles and Doubles Shuffleboard, pitching horseshoes, Mini Golf, Softball Hit N Throw, Long Jump, 100 M, Discus, Race Walk, and Shot Put. Paul has also participated in other Special Senior Games throughout the Tidewater area and around the state. He has won a total of 38 metals this year, 37 Gold and 1 Silver Metal. What a great accomplishment and a job well done for Paul. 

During his 18 years in the Special Senior Games, Paul has won a total of 574 metals and 77 of that metal are from the state of Virginia. The Portsmouth Horseshoe Club likes to congratulate Paul Caviness for an outstanding job.  Paul outstanding performance is in with keeping with the highest traditions of the Portsmouth Horseshoe Club and reflects great credit upon his family and the Virginia Horseshoe Pitching Association (VAHPA) .
