The Suffolk Peanut Fest

The Suffolk Peanut Fest Open Horseshoe Tournament was a great success. On Friday evening was Team Doubles (Luck of the Draw). Their were 9 Teams for the Doubles Round Robin Tournament. Don Masters and Glen Barlow went 8-0 to claim top prize of $135. Everybody realy had a great time pitching under the lights and the weather was nice and cool, good for pitching horseshoe.

On Saturday, the Open Singles had 27 players participate with 6 Classes in the tournament. In Class A, Ronnie Reeves won 1st, Willie Jones 2nd and Joe Price finished 3rd.

Class-B: Horace Phillip 1st, Wesley Schmacher 2nd and Jack Simpson finished 3rd. Class-C. Joe Presho 1st, Deforest 2nd and Don Masters took 3rd.

Class-D, Glen Barlow 1st, Hope Presho 2nd and Ramas Witfield took 3rd.

Class-E: Jerry Colyer 1st, ED Storm 2nd and Duke Godwin finished 3rd. Class-F: Elijah Lloyd 1st, Hope Presho 2nd and David Crockett finished 3rd.

In the elimination round with the 6 Class winners, Elijah Lloyd beat Ronnie Reeves 27-16, Horace Phillip beat Jerry Colyer 26-11, and Glen Barlow beat Joe Presho 27-19. In the Semi-Final, Horace Phillip beat Glen Barlow 27-11 and in the Final, Horace Phillip beat Elijah Lloyd 26-17 to win his Second Open Single in a row. Last year Horace beat Linwood Conner Sr in the Final. Horace won top prize $100 a Overall Championship Trophy and a Gas Grill Deep Fryer Cooker. Elijah Lloyd finished 2nd Overall and got $50 and a Trophy.

What a great weekend of horseshoe pitching. A Special thanks to Jim O'Quinn and all the Club members who help make this event a great success. This was the Club 5th time hosting this great Open horseshoe Tournament at the Suffolk Peanut Fest.
