Story by Kevin Snelgrove
July 26, 2008
| Our local weather man, Eric Prichett, ( Channel 29 NBC)
must have had an inside tip on the weather for this year’s Sweet
Dreams Day. A chance of storms with comfortable temperatures
gave Eric the edge as he won the Mens 5K race. The attendance
for the race was a just under 100 runners, an increase over
last year.
As the day and the weather progressed, so did the horseshoe
event. It too saw an increase of entrants, thirty individuals
participated. Several new faces joined the event from as far
away as Mineral and Iron Gate. Four separate classes competed
with the winner of each class entering the Championship Class.
Ed Thompson (Faber) defended his title from last year and maintained
his crown. Jeff Wine (Staunton) was runner up champion with
Jeremi Skillman (Greenville) in third and Robert Conner (Iron
Gate) in forth.
Throughout the day the sun peaked in and out of the clouds
but not a drop of rain. Perhaps next year we will break the
100 mark for runners and 36 pitchers. The event is growing in
numbers every year. The word about how much fun it is, is spreading.
Tell your friends about Sweet Dreams, together we grow! Our
thanks to King Custom Inc.
who is the proud sponsor of both of these events.
