2007 Suffolk Peanut Fest

The 2007 Suffolk Peanut fest horseshoe tournament singles and doubles was a great success. This was the fourth season that the Portsmouth Horseshoe Club has hosted this tournament. On Friday, Oct 12 was the doubles. There were eight teams luck of the draw round robin. Jack Miley and Joe Presho were the luck of the draw doubles champions with a 6-1 record. The top prize was $80.00 split between the winners. Everybody had a great time and looking forward to next year. On Saturday Oct 13 was the open singles round robin. We had 30 players and 6 group round robin. The three winners from each group are as follow: Group A, Linwood Conner, Chris Bell and Jerry Coyler. Group B: Ken Henson, Butch Eure and Frank Harris. Group C: Ray Lassiter, David Moser and Deforest Mapp. Group D: Horace Phillips, Joe Presho and William Ponton. Group E: Hope Presho, Ed Storms and Chris St. Hilaire. Group f: Darrell Teegarden, Lawrence Cox and Norma Venavage. The 6 group winners had a single elimination playoff sudden death to determine the overall. Horace Phillips defeated Lenwood Conner to claim the 2007 Suffolk Peanut Fest horseshoe singles champion. Horace receive a deep fry cooker and $100.00. Lenwood Conner 2nd overall winner receive $50.00. The weather was great and everyone really enjoyed the tournament and are looking forward to next year.
