Petersburg Spring Open

Petersburg Spring Open April 1, 2006

The sunshine in between the clouds made for a beautiful day, the wind that blew the clouds racing by, we all could have done with out. Those same winds drove earthward and made for a very interesting day. Hardly nobody but Herman Harper pitched well. .

Might have been the rusty shoulder of winter but most all that attended would agree the wind was relentless. As I was score keeping on one the A class games it is indeed rare to see an A class pitcher miss the box , hit concrete but to miss the pitching platform to the right. The gust of wind literally move that shoe out and on to the grass at 40 feet.

Scorekeeping was a challenge in it self, just trying to keep the sheet on the clipboard. Numerous times pitchers and scorekeepers chase the sheets of paper across many courts.

Herman Harper despite all that Mother Nature put at him, is moving on up!

Seed in B Class he held the highest average of the day at 53.45%. I have a feeling we will see Herman make a few of the A Class challenges this year.

Tryee Jefferson a new face from Richmond entertained us all when he found out he won first place in E Class. He said "I have never won a horseshoe tournament in my life!" He was so proud of his accomplishment he danced and waved his arms for almost an hour. I hope he wins again.

The Richmond Club took home 4 first place finishes out of the six adult classes. along with Herman and Tryee, Richard Owens held the D Class title and Ed Jordan took F Class.
