Winchester Flag Pole   VaHPA News & Updates
March 20 , 2005
Chartered by the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association

The Virginia horseshoe pitching season has gotten off to a slow start, with the first three tournaments on the schedule canceled.

Due to a fire experienced by the Vannoy/Hix family, the first two tournaments were canceled. Because the time and energies of the Ruther Glen Club have been consumed with rebuilding, they have not had the time to construct the courts that were to be used for the April 2nd tournament, and that event is also canceled. The club and family fully expect that their planned 12 courts will be in place, ready to go, before the October event that is on the schedule.

The VaHPA is pleased to announce that Chuck Duymich from Mineral, Va has accepted the position of (ARD) Assistant Regional Director for Virginia. Over the past few years, we have been pleased to see that Chuck has demonstrated the enthusiasm and interest that this position requires. His line of work - telecommunications -takes him all over the state and SE United States, and wherever he goes, he contacts the local population, encouraging pitchers to come visit Virginia's events, and promoting the sport overall.

He will be working closely with Kevin Snelgrove, RD as they both promote the sport and interpret the rules of horseshoe pitching for our state. Please join the VaHPA in thanking him for taking on this new assignment. We look forward to working with him in his new role.

Ricky Hall, President,
