Ruther Glen February Invitational

HORSESHOES ARE BACK

The Ruther Glen Horseshoe Club held its first tournament this weekend on the 3 indoor courts. The weather was actually quite nice for a February Saturday, except for the wind. We had a very good turnout there were 4 classes this time with 6 in each but the last one.

Starting at 9:00 am we ran a tight schedule, expecting to start the last class at 6:00. Tournament play was over by 6:45 and everything went smoothly. I want to thank Pat and Kevin Snelgrove for helping me by finishing up the last class. I had to leave early due to my dad Floyd Hix being inducted into the Greater Richmond Bowling Hall of Fame, which is another passion of ours during the winter. The ceremony for that was at 7:00 and we all attended, very proud of our father.

Pitching on Saturday was not as well as everyone would have liked we had newcomer Kevin Bowman win A class after a playoff with Randy Rickard averaging 29.5%. Another newcomer from last year Tim Applegate won B class with an average of 31.0%.

 From the Ruther Glen Club Miles Noel took 1st in C Class with 30.8%, and Kevin Snelgrove won D class after a playoff with Janet Dunn averaging 15%. It was not bad pitching considering it was the first tournament of the year and on the indoor courts.
Since this was an invitational tournament let me apologize to anyone I missed now. We have another one on March 20 which still has openings so if your interested please contact Kara Vannoy (804)514-4869 or Floyd Hix (804)241-1761.

We also have the Petersburg Spring Open on April 3 at Kitchens Courts which is open to everyone come on out and pitch.
