Once again in the New River Valley rain starts the day, but it couldn’t drown the hopes of horseshoe pitchers who had come to compete in the Earl Linkous Memorial Tournament at the Big Oak Horseshoe Club in Dublin.  The day started out wet but after an hour or so the rain and clouds lifted, and the pitching began. We had several people from West Virginia and Virginia participating. Doug Cook from West Virginia, won A-B Class with 9 wins and 0 losses. Paul Perry still another WV fellow took C-Class with 6 wins and only 1 loss. In D-Class Big Oak’s Patricia Ball cleaned up with 7 wins and 0 losses. In E-Class 2 new comers to the sport of horseshoe this year showed they had what it takes to get it done. Kenny Puffenbarger Jr. won 1ST place, and D.J. Lawson took 2ND place.  Big Oak wants to thank all that came out and look forward to seeing them again at the next tournament.
