| On August 24, 2002 the Big Oak Horseshoe Club hosted the annual
Firecracker Classic in Dublin Virginia. Twenty-seven pitchers attended
the event, including five pitchers from West Virginia.
Dewayne Bailey from Pineville West Virginia was among those participating in this year's event. It was his first experience pitching in clay. This year was the first time that an 80% spot for A Class contestants was applied resulting in eight pitchers for that category. Even though there was a short delay in play due to rain, everyone seemed to have a good time. Big Oak Horseshoe Club would like to thank Pulaski Walmart and the Lowes Superstore in Christiansburg for the generous donations.
