| The Story of the day was indeed the tempertature. Although the
weather was predicted as a 30% chance of showers and a little cool, the
pitchers woke up assuming it would warm up during the day. It never happened.
Here it was, the middle of July, and an unusual cold front blanketed the
area. A bit of drizzle stuck to the courts all day, and with the temperatures
hovering in the 50's, it was a bit too cool for wearing shorts. Pitchers
ransacked their vehicles, looking for any extra clothes they might have
had with them. Ben Robinson was one of the few that had a jacket with him.
Jackie Wetzell (A class), Bob Tinley(B Class) and Marlon Barnes(E Class) managed to win all of their games. Tommy French (C Class) took his class with 6 wins 1 lose. The only playoff of the day was in D class. Glenn Bouley and Bobby Johnson squared off with Glenn becoming the victor. As the morning ran on and the drizzle didn't stop, the pitchers looked for warmth. The club ran through 60 cups of coffee during the day - amazing for the middle of July, usually it's soda and cold water - and the coffee pot was the last thing to get packed up at the end of the day. The weather didn't help anyone maintain a good average, and we had to console quite a few with a reminder that it's your three highest tournaments in the past twelve months that figure into your NaSTAT, so this one won't hurt. Thanks to all the pitchers that attended, and a hearty round of appreciation
