What a come back! No, not in horseshoes but in health.
It was great to see
both Raymond Deal and Charlie Edmonds proudly showing off their battle
scars. Both of them had knee surgery over the winter and are doing wonderful.
They still have a long way to go in recuperating but by the looks of things,
surgery didn't slow them down. Charlie has made his way back on the courts
already and Raymond says maybe by mid summer he might be pitching. It would
be great to see Raymond out there again.
In Churchville, the weather could not have been any better.
Brilliant skies. It's a rare day when you can see across the whole valley
and see the other side - we could. Crystal clear, warm and just the slightest
breeze. 28 pitchers attended the tournament.
B C and E Classes started the day. Ray Staton got his first
win of the season edging out Sheldon Worley in B Class. Sheldon wanted
another patch but was happy to take second place.
Sheldon's traveling companion, new pitcher, William Terry came back
to pitch. After placing second in Crozet (his first ever sanctioned tournament),
he was determined to take home a Patch. He did in C class ,
with 5 wins and no losses.
In E Class, after 5 rounds, things ended up in a 3 way tie for first
place, Lacey Houff, Kevin Snelgrove and Durwood Griffin pitched off.
Lacey edged Kevin to take 1st. .
A and D class pitched second flight. Amy Hall was a bit disappointed
in her results for the day. Ending with 79.63 slightly below her starting
average. Still, for the rest of us, it is an impressive number.
Rosette Cupp had a clear victory in D Class with 4 wins and 1 loss ,
Bo Gormus with 27.12% barely edged out Charlie Leonard 26.87% for second
place. Charlie went home with 3rd.
Ray Staton, president CHC thanks all of those who attended.
