Saturday, here in the park, you'd think it was the fourth of
July ,
...................the weather was perfect and the crowd was in a festive
mood. Smiling sun-tanned faces were everywhere! A total of
52 pitchers participated, making 7 classes.
In A class, Amy Hall reached for that perfect
game, but missed it by a mere ringer against Ron Trobaugh. She had
23 ringers out of 24 shoes pitched. Needless to say, Amy went on
to be undefeated.
Jackie Whetzel in B class, started his day with a
75% game against Chris Foster. In C class, there was quite a comeback.
After 50 shoes, Bill Hartless had a score of 36-18 over Glen Ritchie.
Glen pumped himself up and started coming back, bringing the score to within
2 points after 58 shoes. He held Bill at 37 points and went on to
win, 41-37.
There was another comeback and win in E class.
After 18 shoes, Jerry Roberts had Rosette Cupp 24-7. Rosette started
pounding from there on, and within 20 more shoes, beat Jerry with a score
of 41-24. There was also a pitch-off in this class for first place.
Jack Abrams and Wayne Coonley were tied with wins and losses. Wayne
came out on top, winning the championship 42-21.
F class also saw a pitch-off for first place.
Cecil Painter and Kevin Snelgrove were all tied up after 7 games.
Midway through the game, Kevin started pulling away from Cecil, and had
him 18-12. Cecil kicked it into high gear, and started hitting the
peg, tieing the score at 24 at 42 shoes. Cecil won on his last 4
shoes with a close score of 28-26.
After an exciting day and 3 flights of classes, we
called it a day at 9:30 p.m. |
